Welcome to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi

We are the oldest Antiochian Orthodox Church in Mississippi, having been established in 1906.  Worldwide, the Orthodox Church is the second largest of all Christian denominations, with over 300 million followers.  Our faith can be traced back to its beginnings during the days of Christ, and has remained unchanged throughout history.  Our parish consists of various ethnic backgrounds and a considerable number of our members are converts to Orthodoxy.  We are a small, warm church community of dedicated Christians, made up of people who care for each other and enjoy working alongside each other on various activities throughout the year.

We invite you to explore St. George through this web site and, more importantly, by actually visiting Divine Liturgy and other services to discover the Faith once delivered by Christ and His Apostles.  Come to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where we will always welcome you.

Special Notes:

Congratulations to the Little Warriors for their wonderful "Flea Market," which raised $363 for needy elderly people in the Vicksburg community.  Also, thanks to them for the refreshments at Fellowship on December 7 and for their great performance at the Outlet Mall on November 15 where they sang and rang the bells.  Thank you, Pam and parents!  Click here to go to the Little Warriors page.

There will be no Parish Board Meeting in December.  Also, Sunday School will not be held on December 21 or December 28.

The Teens Kibbee Sale on November 15 was a huge success!  Thanks to all who helped make it so.  Also, during October, Teen Month, our Teens ushered, read the Epistle, and took up collection.  Additionally, they took a special collection on October 19 for Special Olympics, which raised $200.00.  Then, on October 26, they sang Divine Liturgy and conducted the Teen Fall Fest.  Thank you, Teens, for all you do!

The new St. George Directory is ready!  Copies are available in Baroudy Hall and in your email.  The 2015 church calendar is also available in Baroudy Hall.

We have started collecting canned goods for the World Food Day drive and will continue to do so until January 11.  Please help us to help others whose needs go beyond what most of us have ever experienced.

Thanks to all who helped with Meals on Wheels in the past!  We always need volunteers to help the needy families in our community through this program.  There is a lot to do; shopping, putting meals together, delivering meals.  If you can help, please call Sue Thomas.

Check with Father John for home and business blessings.

Continue to pray for Fr. John's and Kh. Cheryl's full recovery.  If you can help them in any way, please contact them at their home.  Many thanks to all who have helped!
