Welcome to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi

We are the oldest Antiochian Orthodox Church in Mississippi, having been established in 1906.  Worldwide, the Orthodox Church is the second largest of all Christian denominations, with over 300 million followers.  Our faith can be traced back to its beginnings during the days of Christ, and has remained unchanged throughout history.  Our parish consists of various ethnic backgrounds and a considerable number of our members are converts to Orthodoxy.  We are a small, warm church community of dedicated Christians, made up of people who care for each other and enjoy working alongside each other on various activities throughout the year.

We invite you to explore St. George through this web site and, more importantly, by actually visiting Divine Liturgy and other services to discover the Faith once delivered by Christ and His Apostles.  Come to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where we will always welcome you.

Special Notes:

On Tuesday, May 23rd, the Men's Club guest speaker was Keith Fulcher.  He is the grandson of Toefel George and Minnie Farris Nohra, and the son of Josephine Nohra Fulcher.  Keith has done extensive research on Lebanese, and other, ancestry, including that associated with many members of the St. George parish.  He is a major contributor to the El Monsif Facebook page, which was created by Carolyn Ellis Staton.  His presentation was very informative, entertaining, and of value to anyone chosing to attend, regardless of ethnicity.  We look forward to Keith's return in the near future.  To join the El Monsif Facebook page, send your email address to Keith at kfulcher1979@yahoo.com and he will add you.  Men's Club meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM.

The Men's Club cleaning of church-related headstones in the cemetery, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 27th, will be rescheduled due to conflicts with several school graduations in the area.  Also, the Men's Kibbee Sale is in the planning stage, expected to take place in June.

On May 13th, the women of the parish were invited by Kh. Rena to her and Fr. Amin's home.  Everyone enjoyed the wonderful food prepared by Kh. Rena and other women, and, more importantly, enjoyed the friendship of one another!  As promised, it was a fun event!

Once again, the Lebanese Dinner was a success, as it has been for over fifty years.  It is truly a remarkable event, greatly anticipated every year by the community.  Thanks to all who have helped!

Continue to pray for Fr. John's and Kh. Cheryl's full recovery.  If you can help them in any way, please contact them at their home.
